Volunteering & NGO's

In my journey, I deeply believe that sharing my volunteering and NGO experiences can be insightful for others and may even open new windows in their way of thinking. In this respect, I want to emphasize the importance of working without expecting any financial return—or any kind of return at all.

After starting university and witnessing volunteering activities in my environment, I began to seek opportunities to become a volunteer myself, aiming to create an impact on my community and learn new things about life.

At first glance, volunteering might seem like a way to leverage opportunities for employment or enhance a resume. However, it should not be thought like that. Most importantly, it is an experience that makes us feel successful, beneficial, and deeply satisfied. Participating in NGOs allows us to make a meaningful impact on our communities while also providing a sense of fulfillment and relief.

Beyond community benefits, volunteering also broadens our horizons. For example, teaching English to primary school students not only helps the children but also teaches you how to manage a classroom, organize your time, and find joy in small victories—like when the students start counting numbers in English. Similarly, organizing an event for an NGO can teach you the fundamentals of event planning while connecting you with new people and perspectives.

I am grateful that I was able to recognize the importance of volunteering early on, thanks to my university’s active club culture, our alumni foundations, and the inspiration I gained from my valuable friends. These experiences have shaped my journey and continue to remind me of the profound impact we can have when we give our time and energy selflessly.
